Recommendation for a good cloth to wipe off wax? OK to use applicator sponge to apply wax that comes with McGuires wax?

Use a microfiber cloth to remove wax or sealants. A low nap (gsm) version works best for me. Turn the cloth frequently and if doing your whole car, you should probably use more than one, as they load up with dried wax/sealant and become less effective (in worst case a potential cause for swirls).
As far as applicators are concerned, I have no issue using the foam ones typically supplied. Again, watch for dried buildup in the applicator.

I tend to use meguiars products and use the supplied foam applicator. I tend to use 2, then clean them immediately afterwards.
I also use a meguiars finishing towel to remove then flip to buff off

Just soak them in some warm water for about 30 mins before putting them in a laundry bag, and then washing them when I wash my microfibres in the machine at 30c

While there are specific cleaners for DA and rotary polishing pads that work well, I have had success just using Simple Green (other All Purpose Cleaners would probably work just as well). Spray on both sides of the applicator while it is still damp. Let sit for a few minutes, then squeeze briskly in a partial bucket of dilute SG until no more cloudiness comes out. Then rinse THOROUGHLY in clear, preferably running, water until you get no more suds. Let dry.

If that's too much trouble or you have water restrictions, just buy more pads and use a new one when needed.
