I remember there being a public beach on the south side of Key West when I was there as a kid. IIRC, the "sand" was pretty sharp coral and would cut up bare feet if you didn't wear sneakers or flip-flops. That beach was the only place where I ever had to evacuate from the water because the lifeguard spotted sharks among the swimmers, so from my perspective there may be a reason why there are no beaches in Key West.....

You don’t go there for the beaches correct. It’s not the glorious sand I have 10 miles from where we live.
We would be going for a foodies, sight seeing getaway. Many go for diving and lobster catching but yes, def not a beach location |

When driving in Key West, be aware that they enforce the speed limits seriously. When I was there, there were Motor Cops with radar everywhere. Nice white crisp shirts and no sense of humor.
Crossing the Seven Mile Bridge in sweltering heat and looking forward to the hotel pool and a cold one or two... |
