Concern with Latest Recalls
My airbag recall appointment got taken care of yesterday, along with some new ones they brought to my attention upon arrival. Thought y'all would like to know about them.
First is a software update for the seats and fuel pump. Unsure what the issues were. Next is headlight alignment. Supposedly they had potential to make contact with and damage paint. I'm not sure how I feel after the headlight adjustment. There is a good sized gap now, enough to put a finger in. I'll post a pic when it stops raining. |

I guess some of this is fairly normal in any car deliver to update modules and firmware etc. any new car also has its glitches that you don't find until thousands of people are driving them around.
Fingers crossed there aren't any new big ones that are going to appear. I think the biggest so far has been the rear motor change for those early cars, some waited months to get those sorted. |

Hi, I wanted to know if you’re having problems with the side mirrors? I had an accident because I didn’t see someone on my side towards the back, and I got hit. I do have driver assist.

UPDATE: I tried to push down on the hood in the closed position and noticed the there is a lot of "give". So I opened the hood, then lowered it to the lowest portion before closing and took some measurements between the left and right side and all were spot on. I then closed the hood firmly and the gap went away! Operator error on my part! Last edited by maxchi; 05-19-2023 at 09:27 PM.. Reason: Update status |

I'm not bothered by recalls. In fact, I'd rather have a bunch of recalls vs. manufacturer (a) not addressing at all or (b) taking 2 or 3 years to address...new vehicle, new platform, $hit happens...don't care as long as they address

You have problems with your vision the mirrors are mirros - surprise - they are adjustable TechE I dont think there is difference in the gap compared with mine - for all of them i think its the same, you need to look at alot of other angels to decide if its too much - based on pictures i think its ok. Keep in mind that compare to previous models - bmw added a rubber seal which doesnt allow dust and water to enter engine bay compared to previous models - so just drive your car Dont worry Mclarens have even wider gap and it costs just about 10 times more |

I was washing it a few days ago with a pressure washer at home. After I was done, I opened the hood(bonnet) and the engine bay was still completely dry. |

The airbag will deploy but the trajectory may be off SLIGHTLY but will still offer adequate protection

speaking of trajectory, I was actually amused that BMW had these thick metal plates bolted to the inside of the A pillars. Took the pick after I removed the A pillar cover. I imagine that they help direct the curtain airbags to deploy towards the door windows.
