My vehicle tax I the X1 will be somewhere around £550 in the UK as we have to pay the standard tax plus a ‘luxury car tax’ for the first 5 years on cars that MRRP £40000 or over.

I paid MSRP and ordered with specific options/selections here in NY. This is our first BMW from this dealer so likely no loyalty or repeat customer incentives for them to extend to us. Being that the ‘23 U11 is new from ground up, the dealers in this area likely will not offer any reductions to 1st time buyers as this vehicle is selling like hot cakes.

I paid MSRP in the New England area. Only one dealer had pre-configured orders for X1 and my need for a car was immediate. The only concession I got was a full tank of gas and that's it. All our lives we were led to believe that you can easily get 8-10% off MSRP on luxury cars but not true in market. I also feel that car companies are enjoying the higher margins and are controlling the inventory that gets to the market.

Likely you dealt with Mt.Kisco, Mamaroneck, or Westchester. I wanted a dealer closer to me and that was Mamaroneck or Westchester. The consultant at Westchester never communicated back after 1st introducing ourselves on our interests so left us with Mamaroneck. They all claim that they never charge more than msrp like that’s a selling point but realizing my wife’s firm decision that could not be changed…this is the price we paid where I would have walked out and probably got a call after with some discount but consultant said at this time (Nov ‘22) no discount. At the end, it’s a capable and nice vehicle that has some quirks and see how the cost of ownership is after warranty.

Makes sense. I'm actually in CT and was about to sign a contract with another dealer for $800 off MSRP when he emailed me his offer. The other dealer wouldn't match it so I went with him. Also, taxes and fees were a lot less in NY so I actually saved about $1,750 in total.

Good luck with the vehicle!

I just hope my wife is happy with the color (Cape York Green Metallic) as neither of us has seen it in the flesh!
Nice color, what interior ?

If you are military stationed in Germany, check about registering in your home state before returning stateside as it may save you some sales tax.

I did on my 2010 MINI but didn't on our 2014 X1 and had to pay sales tax when I pcs'd back to the USA.
