Emergency call system failure

Hi all,

My 4-month old U11 just got the warning error about the SOS call system. When checking the app My BMW, it indicates "emergency call system failure --> low".

Does anybody have came across the same issue? I pressume that the battery is low and it needs replacement. Do you know where it is located and if it is easy to replace by ourselves?

Any advice would be highly appreciated!

I’ve seen this on the X3 forum and it’s not a cheap or easy fix. I believe some of it is in or near the aerial on the top of the car. I’d say a dealer visit required to get it sorted under warranty.

This is how my wife's issues started...then quickly escalated into a BDC replacement as well as the primary battery

I recall reading your post back when all that happened... for me, luckily the car functions with no issues so far but I will bring it to the dealer ASAP however, I will have to get ready for negotiating with them becuase as far as I know, battery replacements are not covered during warranty.

Hopefully it's something less sinister...weird batteries aren't a warranty item for you

I had the battery for my car (SOS battery not main battery) replaced under warranty. This is a defective item so I am hoping for your sake it is covered
Good luck
