General reliability and fully electronic interface?

Hi, placed my order last week, before I started to read the posts on this forum.
Trading my old 1st gen X1 that I absolutely love and been bulletproof, for the new version

There are a couple posts or threads about the X1 being unexpectedly sidelined due to battery issues, solenoid problems and errant malfunction messages.

Wondering if these are common issues and have they been sorted out? I live 2+ hours from the nearest dealer and often will be 3 or 4 hours away in unpopulated, very cold (minus 10F and lower) winter climate - getting stranded is a major concern

Also, are you guys happy with the fully electronic controls?

(I tried to search but it's not returning any results for some reason)

Forums tend to bring people to them that are looking to complain at times. So you often get a higher occurrence of people having problems. Ours has been great no issues after it got delivered.

Others have had problems in pockets, it can be due to the early models having issues removed or update problems more than anything.

Had mine for a week and so far it's been solid. A little slow on startup as it loads your profile, but snappy once it's fully loaded.

Cars have had significant functions controlled only by a screen for many years now. I would say modern car electronics are highly reliable. However, if the one car that goes bad is yours, even if it's covered under warranty, it's a hassle. If you are concerned about being hours away from the dealer - electronics or anything else - you need to factor that into your decision.

I understand your concern. We're also upgrading from a 2014 X1 and have had similar concerns. Other than a thermostat and a front windshield washer pump our 2014 X1 has just needed oil changes and tires.

Yes. 2 ships left recently so there's a chance I'm on those. 2 more departures in the next few days then about a week break in the action.
