headlights are not as bright as I expected. anyone added driving or fog lights?

I do a lot of night driving on dark freeways and country roads. The X1 headlights are not as bright as I expected. maybe I just assumed that they would be bright because it was a BMW. nothing wrong with the headlights on my X1 because I compared them to other identical X1s at the BMW dealer at night. all are equally bright, I mean equally dim.

on top of that, there are no dedicated fog lights to cast a wider light pattern from the front of the car to the near edge of the low-beam light pattern.(like proper fog lights should)

anyone added driving or fog lights? there's quite a bit of free space on the lower front bumper of my X1 with the M Sport package bumper. however, with the BMW electronics being so sensitive these days, I'm not sure if adding extra lights will trigger anything, even if wired correctly.

Lights are great at least in the UK especially with the adaptive as they auto use main beam and shut off sections of the lights to not blind other drivers works really well. You don’t even need to turn them on to do that either.

Make sure they are adjusted properly for height but not seen anyone adding things these days thought that stopped in the 80s.

Mine are fine. What previous cars have you owned that you are comparing them to?

That didn't apply to US market vehicles, since the adaptive headlights are not offered here.

It is indicative of their being an existing issue with headlight brightness, and this issue may carry over to other vehicles with different setups.

He had this corrected with a software update after lots of complaining.

I doubt it would carry over at all, as the US model headlights do not use the camera for anything other than the auto high beams, the two headlight systems are vastly different. As near as I can tell, the US headlights do not have a dimming function, they are simply on/off with no adjustment to brightness at all. Even the cornering lamps are separate from the main beams. The adaptive headlights are much more sophisticated, and most likely have their own module that controls them.

Mine in Japan are very bright and the highs can almost see into the future on a dark road

It doesn't sound like a very strong argument.

His issue was not related to the brightness due to the adaptive headlight, sensor, or camera system. It was just not bright, and corrected via a software update. My point is it may be worth it for the OP to not just give up because the SA showed him other cars are the same.

Have you coded headlight brightness through esys before?
He literally said in the video that the camera was not calibrated….and it was more than not bright, the adaptive functions were not working and the beam spread was not the same.
And yes, many years ago I have coded headlights, angel eyes and other things. My point is that the headlights are so different that it’s unrelated. Could it be solved by a software update? Maybe. But it is definitely not the same issue the guy in the YouTube video was having.

As far as I can remember, I don’t recall any other forum posters having the same issue as the OP with the non adaptive LED headlights, unlike the video where he says many iX1 users with Adaptive LED lights have complained about the issue.
