Need little more space, and thinking about removing the 2nd row seat completely.

Wondering anyone has tried this, such as how to cover the bare surface after removing it?

I was surprised to see that there's a warning triangle on the dash if you drive with the 2nd row folded down. I'm guessing you would see if that if you completely removed the rear seats.

that little warning triangle confused me on the very first day that I took delivery... I thought it was kind of dumb... still do.. I get that the BMW engineers want to alert the driver to the seats being in the folded down position, but they should use a text-based warning like "rear seats down!"

I agree, it's overly alarming like the 37 degree temp warning is. I want my dashboard to be error free when using the car in a way it was designed to be used. At least it's a white triangle instead of yellow!

oh yeah! my X1 was delivered in April, so I didn't start seeing the silly 37 degree warning until a couple of months ago. It's driving me nuts. Apparently there's no way to disable it. when it's cold, I do occasionally look at the temperature display in the dash.(been doing that since I learned to drive when Reagan was still the president) no need to have the car computer warn me that it's cold and close to freezing outside. what's next? a warning in the dash telling me "yo! the traffic light is red! you need to stop!"???

and dont' even get me started on the remote engine start that gets disabled when the gas tank is low.

well.. on second thought, maybe the 2nd row fold down warning triangle is necessary... some people probably don't realize that when you turn around and you can see into the trunk, it probably means the 2nd row seats are folded down?

I think the warning was intended to let you know the seat back is not latched properly, in case there’s a small child back there the seat back could fold down under its own weight under hard braking. If you have a small or child back there that could be problematic. The warning does give a brief explanation when the car is started but quickly changes to just the warning triangle. I do wish they had different tones for different levels of warnings though, but at least it’s not as bad as previous cars. My e90 used to give me heart attack scares occasionally for mundane warnings.

I mean the triangle goes away when the temperature warning goes away. The warning doesnt last any longer than the seatbelt warning.

It's also standard. Every one of the 6 BMWs I've owned over the years has had that brief cold temp warning message to remind you there may be slick roads on your journey.
