This is my first car with tire pressure monitoring with actual pressure values and I am just wondering if it is normal for the reported values to be higher then tire gauge readings? The reported values were very high from the dealer/factory. So I measured them cold with a decent intercomp tire gauge and they were very high. The door frame says 32 PSI and they were up as high as 39 PSI. I have lowered them all to 32 PSI but the reported values in the car say 35PSI with a recommended pressure of 31PSI. Why is the computer recommending 31 PSI when the door frame calls for 32 PSI?

The tyre pressure monitoring is so annoying... It starts to complain about every little change to the pressure which is normal in the hot weather here. I'm so tired of it that I drive with the warning all the time.

I’ve got my tyre pressures set cold at 31psi using my own pressure gauge and depending on temperature/weather the pressures for all four tyres viewed via the app can range up to 36/37psi after a journey without any warnings flashing up in the instrument panel. They are always within 0.5psi of each other. Are all four tyres showing the same pressure? |

Just picked up our MY24 28i.
Tires are Bridgestone Turanza 255 55R18. Checked the tire pressures and when I got home and they were all set around 40 psi. Both the manual and the vehicle door label indicate the tire pressure should be 35 front 32 rear. The mobile app is showing the recommended pressures to be 39 front and 33.9 rear. I'm assuming that the App is factoring in temperature? It has been around 70F here today which is fairly close to what I would expect to be ambient temperature.

Each tire may also have different reading. For example, if you parked in your driveway and the sun is on the left, those two left tires will be warmer, resulting in different recommend/current pressure. that's assuming the pressure was correct when they calibrated the tries at the factory or during PDI. I checked the pressure of all 4 tires with two different gauges(a BMW one and a JACO one) and they matched the TPMS sensors. Don't forget to check the spare tire pressure as well... mine was really, really low when I checked it.. more than 10 psi lower than the recommended 60psi.
