Soon to be new owner

Hello all,

Due to various reasons including underground parking size/weight restrictions I’ve ordered a new iX1 eDrive20. Delivery date is late April.

I’ve been an Audi owner for many years and I’m new to BMW so I’ve been scouring the forum for info.

Is there a way to download the owners manual in advance? Are there other documents that can be shared that I can read in advance so I know more about the car once it’s arrived?

Thanks

You should be able to download and read the owners manual via this link (you’ll need your car’s VIN)

https://www.bmwusa.com/owners-manuals.html

Once you have your VIN, download the BMW Guide app. Enter the VIN in there and you’ll have your manual

Perfect, thanks. Lots of reading to do until it’s delivered.

I finished reading the owner's manual PDF during the 5 months of waiting. Not much else I could have done to kill the time. Oh wait, did that make me a nerd?

So... on delivery day, I knew how 90% of the things worked on the X1. (except remote engine start, which my salesman and I couldn't figure out.. until the actual BMW Genius came over and showed us how to activate it in the climate control settings.... it came from the factory in deactivated state)

I haven't gone through the manual but the actual car settings were pretty clear. I just spent an hour going through each setting in the car. Make sure keys are set up, make sure you have drive assists active, etc. You can watch a couple of YouTube videos for x1 features but it wasn't worth reading the manual, imo.

The most current manual, last time I looked (2 weeks ago) was still IDrive8-2022......
'Online Edition for Part no. 01405A63689 - VI/22'
so there are some significant differences
The SatNav and Infotainment manual referred to in the X1-U11 manual page-6 is a seperate generic one supposedly for all late model BMW's
'Online Edition for Part no. 01405A6B1F2 - X/22'
unfortunately "late" is also IDrive8 but not as implemented on the X1-U11, a fair amount of intuition and guess work is required with both manuals when it comes to using them with IDrive9.

BTW: Hi TwoBobBits, Welcome!
you have put your location down as EU but "TwoBobBits" is a well known (pre 1971 decimalisation) UK colloquialism for a Two Shilling Piece or 'Florin', see:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florin_(British_coin)

have you forgotten something or is it wishful thinking? Just asking, nothing sinister.
Maybe it’s different for the ICE models, but for the iX1 (at least the iX1 on idrive 8), it’s 01405A7D495 - 11/23

If you get your build no. and then your VIN / chassis number you can add the car into the BMW app. From there once it's built or getting built it will also allow you to download the official manual from that app / account. Enjoy.

If you google “ bmw ix1 vin number” you will get some hits. That will allow you to download the iX1 manual into the BMW Guide app.

Given it’s publicly available information that you can see in any iX1’s windscreen, I can’t see an issue in using it to download a manual.

While I live in the EU I do originate from the UK. It’s also cockney rhymning slang for something else…
