Coding my U11 M35i

Attempted to code my M35i using OBDLink-CX...did not recognize my car. Instead used my OBDEleven and here is what's available..not too much. I just coded the sound signal to original BMW, I did not like the BMW i sound set.

Very little you can do with the U11 X1 family, BMW controls config on its servers now pretty much. All the normal coding options don’t work and they have said it’s unlikely it will every be possible like the previous models.

If you select BMW U11 on their page.....they show much more settings than those 2.
Do you have id8 or id9?

If all showed settings are available, I might buy adaptor and one click apps for my 30e
If only 2, no way.
Besides one click apps for coding, What info can you get from your U11 to your mobile?

According to their website, they have 21 coding for U11. Hope id8 (my car 30e) can use then all.
I have just ordered through Amazon, so if they don't work....I ll return the dongle!

Just checked their website and it seems you're correct. Therefore, it'll be interesting to see what your experience is when you receive your device! Don't forget to update this thread

I'm interested to see what happens after you bring it into the dealer. Supposedly, with ID8 and ID9, if you make any coding changes that weren't authorized by BMW, they can see it and potentially flag your car in the system as soon as your car is hooked up for diagnostics. This is done supposedly through a checksum verification as well, so even if you code it back to stock it knows how many times a module has been written to, and if it doesn't match with the number of times BMW has logged it can be trouble.

Again, not saying it's true, but from things I've been reading while researching coding for ID8. I'm actually hoping for it not to be true so I can code my own car eventually.

BMW dealer must have tools that allow them to do a lot of things in the car's computer.

When I paid to have the oil changed at 1000 miles for peace of mind, I specifically told the service advisor and the tech NOT to reset the oil counter(or whatever they called it). The service advisor even had it printed on the invoice. The reason was that I didn't want the the car to wait another 10,000 miles before alerting me to another oil change(which would be free under BMW's free 3-year maintenance)

However, when I picked it up, sure enough, the tech had forgotten about it and the counter was reset. I went back a few days later and asked the tech about it. He apologized and said that he had too many cars that day. He drove it into the service dept and hooked it up to the biggest diagnostics computer I had ever seen(about the size of a portable air conditioner on wheels. After 10 minutes, he brought the car out again and the oil change interval was reduced by about 1000 miles.(or back to what it should have been) He said he was able to "cancel" the reset that he did, so the car "forgot" about that oil change.

OBD11 states on their webpage that they are VAG and BMW certified. Whatever that means!

I hope they’re right, but I suspect it just means “compatible” and not actually licensed by BMW.

It’s possible to adjust the service interval to a specific mileage or date. You used to be able to reset the interval using a combination of buttons on older BMWs, not sure if you can do it on the U11’s

All those settings turn sound off. So external warning required under EU law for example you can turn off, fine until you hit someone and they find it was off, good luck then.

Internal sound is the augmented exhaust or sound on PHEV and switching it off, not changing or enhancing its a deactivate.
