X1 30e automatically switching to electric mode
Hi all,
To all PHEV owners, I have noticed that my X1 30e with ID9 sometimes automatically switches to all electric mode in the middle of driving - it starts up in hybrid mode (automatically starting in electric mode is deactivated), and then from time to time it decides to "automagically" activate electric only mode. Is this a known behaviour ? A bug ? Thanks, Cheers, CJ |

In ID 9 under Apps > Vehicle > Driving settings > Drivetrain & chassis > Activate ELECTRIC.
Right below you have an option to automatically activate electric driving when switching the car on. I have this deactivated to allow the car to switch between the combustion engine and the electric motor. But every once in a while it decides to switch to electric permanently for the rest of the trip. The "Activate ELECTRIC" label says then "Deactivate ELECTRIC". The automatic electric on start remains toggled off tough. I then have to click on "Deactivate ELECTRIC" to go back to the hybrid mode. For me this looks like a bug. At least this is not documented in my manual. Last edited by cjacoby78; 04-26-2024 at 08:56 AM.. |

As I understand it the Hybrid mode determines when to use the electric power to power the vehicle and will use the power in urban areas. The only way to stop this is to put it in sport mode or maintain battery then this will keep the engine running. The idea of the PHEV is to optimise fuel consumption by using the electric side of the system.
