Why Did Cars Get So Expensive? The cost of insurance is up 40 percent over the past two years.
For all the guys who want to make this political, I would say they should be pissed off with DeSantis who spent his time attacking the Woke Mob instead of the insurance companies in Florida who are crushing folks! My FIL who has a clean record is paying through the nose for his car and home insurance.

Insurance in areas that will be ravaged by the effects of climate change is insane, will give you that.

Florida has hurricanes and flooding
California has wildfires
Texas has it all

It’s only going to get worse. Insurers are already pulling out, reducing competition. Those insurers left are free to raise rates.

Insurance is nothing but a way of spreading risk across a large pool, but the more risk increases (whether from nature or increasingly risky behavior like bad drivers), the higher premiums will get.

It has nothing to do with politics, but people always look for excuses and that’s where it goes. Politicians like desantis do it too.

I say BS. If DeSantis woulda got out there with his umbrella and stopped those damn hurricanes we wouldn't be in this situation.

I haven't responded to this thread until now because my insurance was pretty good (small town, perfect record, multi-car, low miles, etc), but my agent just told me they're shopping me around because my annual premium went up $1000. WTH???

Might have to leave the insurance off of the Lotus this year, damn.

Still Expensive

I only drive the BMW 4-5 months a year and just goofing off rides. I put less than 3000 miles last year. I put it in storage for winter and it still cost me about $600 for six months just sitting in an unheated detached garage. I am seriously thinking of no insurance at all while in storage.
This will make the rest of my vehicles insurance bill a bit better.

I guess I don't mind paying if its on the road, but is storage I don't see much risk ?

Comments ?

I had left a car in long-term storage and canceled my registration and insurance. As long as you are willing to take the risk in case there is a natural disaster.

A politician can’t snap his fingers and create profit for insurers. They can however create an environment in which business can thrive. Think about it.

You are discussing just the garage queen right ? Not the ones you drive or not and have decided to ride a moped:bike....Aka, you don't want to have a lapse in coverage. Afaik, most underwriting will frown on even giving you policy or it will be sky high if you have a lapse
