Big thank you

[QUOTE=jb008;30608329]I'm in Monroe County.

If I'm in personal mode and hit the hard button below "My Modes" in the armrest.

That pulls up the touchscreen menu that includes on/off for Iconic Sounds. Hit the space above the sound option and it pulls up a menu that includes disabling auto start/stop.

Long pressing the disable auto start/stop and it gave me the option to add it to my shortcuts. This makes it a two-step button using the GUI (access shortcuts button is press one, deactivate once is press two - with the added bonus that the menu disappears after I've pressed the button), whereas the hard button route was a 4-button process (hard button, press above Iconic Sound, deactivate AS-O/O, banish menu as 4th button press).

I spent literally hours going around in circles trying to find the supposed "deactivate once" feature, without success. Don't know how you ever found it, but THANK YOU.

I like pressing buttons and probably missed the small iconic sounds toggle once and found the AS/S off by accident.

I hope the access shortcuts aspect was clear, but that's the little dropdown menu from the top of the screen. That makes it easy to toggle AS/S on and off, and note that you'll need to turn it off every time you turn on eco mode (e.g., if you switch to sport mode for part of the drive and then switch back to eco mode; eco mode comes bundled with AS/S and the only way I found to toggle off AS/S was via the shortcuts).

Enjoy your X1!

I may have misunderstood yourlast post on setting up a Shortcut to “Deactivate Auto Start/Stop once” within “DRIVING SETTINGS” / “Drivtrain and Chassis”. As a one BUTTON option by Long Pressing on a particular function.

I have mine set up as a shortcut with the screen shoot attached for a few months. (See photo) The wayI’ve been using it is to touch the Deactivate….” to turn off the stop/start engine. It’s a 2 step process & I can live with it.

I thought you were saying that you found a way add a Shortcut for ONLY the “Deactivate Auto Start/Stop once” function.

If that’s true can you supply photos of the specific screen you are referring to & howit looks as a stand along in Your “Shortcut” ? Thanks

According to their profile they have a 2023 X1 which has ID8 vs ID9. Users with ID8 were able to setup a direct shortcut to the ASS. Users with ID9 cannot.

As already posted on this thread, it’s easier with id9 to use the central console button fix (not the auto hold button)

I just pull gear lever to sport and then pull it again if I don't want to keep ASS.
For God's sake do not use Auto Hold button ever.

I can see I'm going to be well unpopular if I go and test drive any number of new cars. No hard HVAC controls and a hard button for ASS defeat are instant no sale triggers. Another is cruise control where I cannot disable the adaptive feature. Guess I'll be driving the current busses for the rest of my natural.

i just use the drive off mode and it turns the Auto start stop straight away without the annoying gearing of sport mode.

You can select transmission to sport when stopped and the engine will restart. Then select drive and the engine continues to run.
This is a fast two flick process without the "horrible fuel consuming" performance improvement.

I had auto hold in a previous AMG which worked well. X1 auto hold jerks the car forward with the engine starting and stopping. I believe some of the Ass problems are made worse by use of the auto hold. It is not a setting to leave on all the time.

You really can't do anything coding wise on our cars. In any case, to use any of the OBD apps you have to be in service mode which is three presses of the start/stop button IIRC.
