Voice Control did not recognize "911"

I tried to dial 911 from my X3 M40i.

Voice Control did not recognize 911, or other emergency words.

I had to dial it manually.

Try "Porsche".

Seriously, is it supposed to recognize that? You might want to add it to your (car) phone book to make it recognizable.

There is no substitute.

Should I have to do so?

I don't know how your car's voice recognition works. For my 2013 car voice commands seemed listed in the manual (I never read them nor willing to check now: I hate voicing and I don't have it in my car). Yet, my previous 2010 smartphone could do voice searching in it's phone/address book (offline!). Thus, unless technology degraded (my current 2019? smartphone feels primitive in some aspects by comparison ) you can add whatever number to you car's phone book, name it whatever you like and call that aloud.

The car never "dials" a number but uses voice recognition to look up a contact and command the phone to dial that contact.
