July 13 or 14th 2024–. When I started x1 1st time today screen showed massage about SAT. Something like inoperable, not functioning or inoperable when the center screen came. Also I noticed XM radio would not move from current station no matter which control I used nor could I adjust volume up or down. Also at that time the back up or front cameras did not work even when I manually pushed console button. A soft reboot did not help.
Later on when I restarted. I did another soft restart. This time the XM radio worked fine but I did notice its logo was different than before. Perhaps it changed earlier today but I did not notice. During the same drive when I gave a command thru “Hey BMW”, it would be carried out but there was no verbal acknowledgment at all. In navigation mode no audio prompts, such as upcoming turns were stated but navigation looked fine. >> On 7/16 (Tuesday), 2 or 3 days after initial problems I did another hard reboot which did not seem to get personal assistant audio to work. But after several vehicle stops & restarts during the day the personal assistant audio started to work as well as navigation directions BUT AT ONLY AT AN EXTREMELY LOW VOLUME LEVEL, NEARLY INAUDIBLE. EVEN SETTING TO MAXIMUM SOUNDS I AM UNABLE TO ADJUST UP TO PREVIOUS HIGH LEVEL SO IT CAN BE HEARD. Has anyone experienced this & if so what was the fix?? |

I also had this for a few days. It seems that when they are updating various apps as part of id9, sometimes the settings are reset or they just fixed an issue.
Update your Apps in drivestore/manage apps and use the setting for Navigation volume to turn it up. It also controls Assistant volume and Android Auto (probably also Carplay) volume. |

Thanks I’ll try Your suggestion later this morning & report back how it works to correct issue.
UPDATE: I just checked the ConnectDrive Store app in vehicle as you suggested & although it stated “all apps are up to date” & it was still set to “autom. Updates” for the heck of it I pushed the autom Update again & then scrolled through a few of the apps from the screen to see if I could determine if any updates had occurred over the past week. I could not tell. The weird thing is afterwards I was able to turn up the volumes of both navigation & personal assistant. But I really don’t know how the correction took place because I saw nothing glaring. THANKS FOR Your HELP Manyowners, including myself believe, the ID9’s system was rolled out to fast by BMW & has so many unexpected glitch’s. This is compounded by their decision to remove nearly all knobs relying on ONLY the screen or the Personal Assistant app that is also reliant on faulty ID9. Resulting in a HORRIBLE USER EXPERIENCE |

Glad it helped!
Knobs are gone and human interface is the same in id8. AAOS is new for them, but quite valuable as it saves a lot of developer headcount, improves agility, allows for more frequent updates and allows them to be more focused on the apps/features they are good at. The rest (which is a lot) is done by Google, but they are still in control as they didn't go for the full suite with GApps. It all means that they will keep improving it. |

UPDATE TO MY EARLIER UPDATE A FEW HOURS AGO. When I just went for a drive both very low audios issues were back & this time the temporary fix through ConnectDrive Store did not help.
I’m not at all happy with my 1st BMW buying decision & I only have 2500 miles on it since picking it up in late December 2023 Called service & agreed to bring x1 into service tomorrow for Genius Technician to see what’s going on with navigation & personnel assistant audio volume 🤞🤞 July 18- ANOTHER UPDATE: brought x1 to tech Genius at dealer this morning. On the way I had absolutely NO AUDIO in either Navigation or Personal Assistant. I sat in vehicle while he did 2 separate HARD REBOOT & that seamed to get it back to normal. He told me going forward if any glitches happened only follow HARD REBOOT not the soft reboot procedure. Saying he’s found that’s been solving 99% of the software issues he’s seen. BMW service also said to look out for an OTA major software update within several weeks that will update the March update. Here’s hoping this fixes much of the problems found on this forum. 🤞 🤞🤞🤞 |
