PHEV force AWD on reverse

Hello,

My garage is underground and has a steep entrance. When I reverse out using the battery, the back wheels tend to spin. Is there a way to enable AWD while reversing? I refer to the PHEV version.

AWD should automatically engage.

If not, try activating drive-off support

If you push down the gear selector car will pass from D to S and it will switch on engine.

Will it stay on though if I put reverse?

That's a good question, sorry I didn't think about putting reverse.
I'll try this evening and tell you, but I'm afraid this trick will not work

Not trying to state the obvious, but why not reverse down the slope to park and drive out forwards?

I’m assuming you don’t have the park assist function that would reverse out for you… because you raise a good point, does the reversing assistant engage AWD as needed. Have to assume it would…

You can also try putting it into “preserve charge” mode and disable “electric automatically” but it still wants to default to electric at very low speed. And ironically “sport mode” fires the engine up ready too.

Sounds like a lot of button pushing.. so maybe back to reversing in….

Unfortunately, reversing into the garage isn’t an option because the driver’s door would be too close to a wall, preventing it from opening.

I have the reverse assist function, but I have to stop the car in the middle of the steep entrance to check if the road is clear. At this point, the wheels spin, and the car accelerates aggressively in reverse. I tried the drive-off support, which was slightly better, but the aggressive acceleration when stopping in the middle of the slope is still an issue.

My next attempt will be using the auto break hold to see if it makes any difference.

If you have iDrive 9, Comfort Access and Park Assistant Plus there is a big chance you will be able to purchase Park Assistant Pro in the next months.

This has remote parking so you don't need to be in the car to reverse it in or drive it out. If you are on the street when the car is driving out you don't need to stop in the middle to check if the road is clear.
