Videos like this are the reason I have lost all interest in ICE acceleration numbers. I don’t even bother with boosting the engines in my cars any longer, what’s the point? A $50k EV can basically keep up with cars many more times it’s price tag, I bet the performance would be close on a track too. Throw a Plaid into the mix (still for less money) and the race becomes laughable. That thing is an absolute missile.

Damn those EVs.

Too bad the EV is so damn boring and soulless to drive. Yes a plaid is fast, but it gets old very quick.

Have an X1 M35i and a Tesla M3P. The soulless comment is just not correct.

My e50 M340 is right there with the new M3P in 1/4 and trap speeds. Sure, the M3P is stock and has a warranty, whereas, for my car...I am the warranty

Yea I didn't search hard enough, or in the right place, and saw that afterwards.

We'll just let this one die slowly on its own...

Pretty impressive performance for the M3 given no electrification. As they said on the video it's essentially putting up supercar performance numbers. At least BMW is going out with a bang with their ICE vehicles and that's something to be happy about not negative as we can't control the times we are in and the fact is that EV's are the future.

I don't get my enjoyment out of pure numbers. EVs like the Tesla are soulless shit boxes, that happen to be very good at one metric.

I think that acceleration is kind of going out of style due to the effects of these cheap EVs. I think what's going to be "cool" going forward is going to be fun. See success of slidey cars like the M2, and things like that.

Charge Times and charge network is the deal breaker for me.

Cadillac once had a commercial that said when you turn your car on does it return the favor? If I can't hear my exhaust I'm not loving it. Normal cars FTW. Electric cars have their place, it's not a place I want to buy into though.

As someone that has the new Model 3 Performance and also a M2C 6MT, those cars to perform different missions. The M2c is modified but the M3P will still blow the doors off of it. It still hasn't got old. Oddly, the tesla has BETTER steering feel than the M2.

The M2 has become my curvy road car. Just fun to drive, loud, and more visceral. The rear end of the car is damn near telepathic in feedback. But don't sleep on the Tesla, it's nearly as fun in the corners and they did a pretty good job on the new performance version, especially compared to the last one. Fortunate that I get to enjoy both.
