I totally agree that the tire/ wheel coverage is the only added protection plan worth getting!

Yeah. It’s a scam and all it means you are willing to pay for it.

I am on my 40th car and have navigated all these interactions successfully. From I “cannot afford it” to “I don’t keep the car long enough” or even “I don’t want it, not even interested”. Some dealerships are cool and if you work with the SA, they can just get you to sign and drive. And some finance managers are cool and just say I’m going to show you these options just tell me if any interest you or not. I don’t mind them showing me their wares, just don’t get all pissy if I don’t want them. Some people want the tire warranty or extended warranty. I’m not that guy. And if I get PPF or ceramic done, it won’t be at the dealership. Well, that’s not true because the last car I got, I typically use the same PPF place in Richmond and it was a pass through cost, no markup. That’s the only time.

BMW Seattle is the best, that’s what the Finance lady told me. I am not paid by BMW Seattle and paid over sticker for my depreciating g82, and this isn’t an ad for BMW Seattle. Just an honest review by a customer of BMW Seattle on my troll account on the forums. I need to say BMW Seattle two more times to make sure Google hits BMW Seattle when you search “BMW Seattle.”

I was persuaded to get the ceramic coating and leather protection for a few hundred £. Given the price, I'm not convinced its an actual ceramic coating and it's probably not worth the money. Guess I'll find out when the detailer takes a look!

The best transaction I had was when I bought my 2024 Subaru Forester. I provided the SA with the certified cheque and completely bypassed the finance guy’s selling crap.

****That seems remarkably inexpensive. In my area of the USA, a decent ceramic coating just for the front of the car is over $1000 at the moment, assuming no remedial work needs to be done to the paint before the application, which increases the cost, sometimes considerably.

Perhaps you were sold a detailing job that used "Ceramic" wax? The leather protection is in my experience just a good application of leather protector that they sell in their showroom. It's good stuff, but a few minutes of ones time and some microfiber towels can reproduce the "protection" for significantly less money.

****I had a great buying experience with my most recent BMW, but I didn't haggle, and paid cash. The money was wired to them and everyone seemed happy. Well, everyone except the finance guy...

I am hoping when I pick up my 2025 Z4 at the BMW dealer in March I will a similar experience. Here is the certified cheque… no need or want to have any discussion with the finance guy.

Crazy, sounds like there was something off on her end, clearly it wasn't anything you did. Very unprofessional. On the flip side, I picked up a Jeep at Jeep Seattle, awesome sales and finance team. Got in and out with the Wrangler. Finance guy was great, hell even threw in some actual free stuff because they get a kick back on it regardless. This was a lease BTW. Left them a good review on Google and off I went.
I guess you have your good and your bad days.

F&I people are the scummiest people at most dealerships. I wouldn't worry too much.

Fully agree. They're there to take care of you, not the other way around. I have the same view of snooty sales/service persons anywhere... always remember that they are there because they need the job. No reason to be a dick, but no need to accept condescension or attitude.

This is where I would have said "Goodbye. You just lost the whole sale. Congratulations. Make sure you read my review."

When you go in there don't even listen to them. Just smile and nod, say no thank you I'm not interested. They're going to say a whole bunch of stuff whatever they're going to say it doesn't matter don't even listen, smile and nod, no thank you I'm not interested.
