X1's have higher tire wear?

I have 2023 X1 with about 21,000 miles. Got robo message suggesting I need an alignment. I had a very recent service and everything checked out. When I asked local service I was told that they are seeing higher than normal tire wear in X1’s and that may have prompted alignment recommendation.
Are any other X1 owners hearing about higher tire wear on X1’s?
Thanks
D Brown

I only have about 6,000 miles but I recall this thread discussing poor tire wear.

I have a tire tread depth gauge. When I buy new tires, I always measure the tread depth and after a few thousand miles, I measure it again for comparison.

For the X1, the tread depth measured just a hair under 10/32 a few days after I took delivery. (car had less than 10 miles) At the first oil change around 9200 miles, it was down to 8/32. 5000 miles after that, it went down down to 7/32. At this rate, I expect it to reach the minimum safe tire depth of 4/32 by the time I go in for my 2nd free BMW oil change. Guess I need to start looking for new tires soon?

I don't really know much about tires, but I have always felt tires that wear out faster are usually the ones that drive and handles better. The ones that last a long time(like a set of Bridgestones that I once had for over 50,000 miles) never handled as well.

I’ve had good luck using Tire Rack website to help narrow down the best tires for what I prioritize as the most important to me. They allow you to select among a lot of criteria’s.
And your correct the softer the tires the shorter miles you will get on them & have a shorter warranty. Also, smaller sidewall tires wear faster. Lastly, front drive vehicles & those with AWD tend to wear out faster.
I have a 2019 Acura RDX with SH AWD with about 28k which still have original tires on it. The tread is worn to only about 8/32” to 9/32” but the side of tires are worse & I’ll probably replace them before winter sets in.

Good luck.

I've used Tire Rack for 20+ years. Bought at least 8 sets of tires over the years. They were the absolute best place to get tires. Unfortunately, after Tire Rack was acquired by Discount Tire two years ago, the service has gone down noticeably. Still good, but not as good as the "old" Tire Rack.

Now I sometimes use my 2nd favorite, which is Costco Tires.
