"Believer" from Imagine Dragons sounds great even when you top up the volume. Also I suggest using Spotify directly from the car App and modify the setting of audio quality from "automatic" to "very high". I perceive it to be noticeably better than playing Spotify via my phone with Android Auto. Of course in any case make sure the "enhanced sound" is enabled in the car's audio settings. Huge difference vs. off

I may try your suggestion about using Spotify directly through the car and see if that makes it any better. Last edited by Gaffer_H; 09-30-2024 at 09:31 AM.. |

hello new user here, I got my X1 back in January, I'm in Mexico and have two playlists that I think sound great with the HK audio system, look for me on Spotify "Eridanny Avina" and I have Harman and Harman Spn and check them out

The bass needs to be on almost full to get any sort of punch out of the system. It’s not bad, but I expected more from HK. |

Personally, I never get too excited about audio in a car.
With all the road/wind/engine noise it's never going to be brilliant. And you don't want it so loud you can't hear what's going on outside - sirens etc. I spend a lot of money on home hi-fi, but don't bother much with any car. |

However I had a Bose system in an 2005 model Audi back in 2007 and that still to this day was the best system I’ve had in a car. The H&K is on par with the B&O systems I’ve had in my previous A3’s (2018 saloon and 2021 TFSI-e). Never listened to the dynaudio in the VWs. Oh Sonos is another one I’ve had, that’s probably the worst. Last edited by Gaffer_H; 10-15-2024 at 05:21 AM.. |

Another thing to consider is what people listen to. For people listening to news / talk radio then any a basic system should be fine. Classical probably needs the best system for detail. Rock/pop/dance usually needs a decent bass without having to crank it up too high imo. I mostly listen to Soul / House / Jazz / Reggae / Samba / Bossa, even some opera and talk radio - so a very mixed bag. For me personally a decent (dance) track to test the system in a car would be something like this. Looking for detail, separation and with no distortion or rattles on the bass as the track builds...
