Timer is still not working for us as of tonight.

Anyone else got any updates?

I’ve given up on trying to use the onboard timer for the charger and have reverted to using the wall box timer. So far working ok.

I did email BMW customer services to flag up the issue and they said they would get back to me. If enough owners complain maybe they’ll do something at the next software update though I’m not holding my breath.

Agree - it needs everyone affected to notify BMW, then it may get escalated.
Otherwise it will just be forgotten.

It would also be intersting to see the wording in the owners manual about it.
If, for example, it says the timer will work to charge the car at predetermined times - and it doesn't, then I would imagine there may be legal implications?

We have resorted to leaving the car on 'immediate charge' and using the timer on the EVSE.

Worked perfectly on the X1 last night.

Now just need to see what happens with my Taycan (it's the nominated device on intelligent Octopus Go) if I leave the timer on its current setting.

If it doesn't work, I will just toggle the EVSE timer settings on or off (via app) depending on which car is plugged in.

I’ve written to BMW to raise as a complaint, I doubt anything will happen but the situation is poor. Wife has also noticed that the car isn’t putting the Auto Handbrake on when she turns the car off.

Flight the toggle back on a it remembers for a few journeys and then suddenly forgets. That’s a safety issue, oh and the driver recorded forgetting settings.

I’m glad they aren’t programming anything important, just a car, oh hold on.

MontyB1 Only thing that changed on mine since the update was the Drive Recorder lost its settings, auto handbrake has been ok upto now.

Hope you get a response from BMW other than speak to your Dealer which seems to be their default answer.

Yeah the auto handbrake had been fine, but then suddenly it's not. Could have been after a press and hold reboot, not sure. But I've reset it twice now and it has dropped off again since, a touch frustrating.

Reply received yesterday from BMW Customer Services UK regarding my query re charging issues after 07.24 Update:

“Many thanks for your continued patience concerning this matter.

Our Technical Support Team said this is a known issue that many of our customers are experiencing across the UK market.
I'm afraid there's currently no timeframe for when this will be resolved, but please rest assured that BMW are urgently developing a fix.

I’m sorry for any further inconvenience this may have caused, we appreciate your continued patience through this investigation.”

So doesn’t look like a fix anytime soon.

Thanks for the update @Pganders.

At least they know of the issue and are working on a fix.

Thats a result in my book.
Too many times for me recently, manufacturers have either not responded / said they are unaware of the issue / are aware of the issue, but no idea if it will be fixed.

So I take it as a positive. 👍

I included it in my emailed complaint to BMW, so fingers crossed it gets included in a future update. Although it’s not dropped off again now for a while for whatever reason.

Charging still an issue, mind you I did find unlocking it to get something out of the car and locking it again in the charging windows triggered it to work. Only a one off mind.

We have resorted to setting the car to 'charge immediately' and set the home EVSE (charger) to manage the cheap rate charging times.

It's working fine like this.

I got a response from BMW which was take it into the dealer, however the dealer just says it’s with central BMW as it’s a firmware issue nothing they can do.

So after another reply asking who we talked to which is odd in itself BMW haven’t been helpful at all in saying they are away if the issue centrally just passing the parcel.

Needless to say we are all likely months away from a fix, great thanks software testers for doing such a poor job.

11/2024 update

First post but wanted to share the following info which is hopefully of some use...

I also have the time slot charging issue and the automatic parking brake issue. BMW UK Customer Service replied to me with the following, I'm booked in for the 20th Dec to get it sorted.

"Thanks for getting in touch about setting up charging in a time slot for your BMW ix1.

If this issue started immediately after a recent vehicle software update or visiting a BMW Centre, we would advise updating the vehicle with the latest 11/2024 software.

Our latest software contains updates and fixes for the issue you're experiencing. The 11/2024 vehicle software is now available to install via our BMW Centres, or alternatively a Remote Software Upgrade will be available from January 2025.

In addition, if you're using a third-party app provider in conjunction with the My BMW app, for example, an energy supplier, it is possible that this is causing the issue.

We would recommend temporarily removing the third-party app and then checking the vehicle functionality.

At present BMW do not support any third-party app providers, but we are working closely with several partners to produce an approved solution.

Note: BMW would strongly advise against providing any third-party your BMW ID username or password information.

I hope this was helpful and if there's anything else, please get back in touch."

Seems to of solved the charging problems.

It did a charge in time slot overnight for the first time since the 07/24 upgrade.

Hopefully this resolves issues with this.
We did the upgrade ourselves via mobile phone yesterday with no need to visit the dealer and are UK based.
It's significant as nighttime electric is about 1/3 the cost for us

.our x1 is the main car for family duties and does 800-1000 miles a month and uses about 300kw/h to achieve this as mainly journeys 3-10 miles.
Probably £40-60 more to charge during daytime which is enough to be irritating.

Fingers crossed then, its all sorted.

We are just sticking with our workaround now for both cars as it's working fine.

Set both cars to immediate charge and just switch the evse to a timed charge (11.30 - 05.30).

Octopus said we don't now need any nominated car for Intelligent Go to carry on working.
So this works fine for us.

Updated to 11/24 and the charging triggered perfectly today and seems back to normal.

Not noticed anything else but seems like things are fixed again. Woo hoo

Will report back if it does work at any point.
