Overtimes @ Work

Just wondering if you guys are eligible for company paid overtime, do you guys grab lunch back to work and eat and clock it as overtime?

I work in IT. For me it depends on the project.
Right now I work at a client site for 8 hrs/day and then I go to my office and work another 4 Hrs (Which is over time) .

Depends on the role and job. As an IT manager, I am an exempt employee so therefore I do not qualify for overtime.

if you are salaried then it's unlikely that you will get overtime...

If you're hourly (non-exempt) you should get an overtime, but some companies they require their employees to take an hour lunch.

I am salaried but also good for OT But on my clocking website, there is a lunch hr (scheduled) but no one follows that POS lunch schedule. I've been clocking OT for the last 2 months staying in for lunch, so I would just clock 5-10mins for the walk to the store.

I'm salaried (IT) but they break it down to an hourly wage. So it still adds up to my salary amount but I'm also eligible for OT pay, which I've been accumulating a lot of this summer.

It's nice flying to a few of our different offices every other week and getting paid for the travel time (OT)

I'm hourly, and I eat at my desk. Every minute counts.

This is what I got in email today from the President of marketing opeations:

All, I know many of you have spent time working on the video for the upcoming Quarterly meeting, and it will be fabulous!
Although this may be fun, it's still considered work, so be very sure to document that time as hours worked.
While we are not fond of overtime, it is illegal to work hours and not get paid for them.
XXX and I don't look good in stripes, or that hideous orange color, so PLEASE ENTER ALL YOUR HOURS WORKED INTO THE SYSTEM. That goes for overtime worked for any reason.
We will take the heat for some overtime rather than have you cheated out of what you earned. This is a serious issue, and we need to be in legal compliance. Thanks for all your hard work.

I like the humor and the fact that they don't want to cheat you guys.

I only get OT if I work over 40 a week...I'm a co-op on wage so regardless of how many hours I work in a day, if at the end of the week I work over 40...then yes, OT for me

IT manager here too, but non-exempt. When the PD calls me at 2:00 a.m. because they can't put the batteries in the wireless keyboard properly, I get two hours. (I put wired keyboards in, "Public Safety Issue")

I don't typically clock every minute. Shceduled 6:30-4, but I RARELY leave before 4:15.

Same here, except I get an automatic 3 hours. So that means if I come into the office to work on something and if it takes me 10 minutes or 2 hours, I still get paid for 3 hours worth of work if I come in outside of business hours.

Only time it sucked was when I was setting up new equipment for a small group of attorneys starting work on Monday, and what I figured would have taken me an hour to do took me 2hr 45min

In California, anything over 8 hours is considered overtime. My previous employers didn't pay me my overtime when I worked 12hr days over a 3 year period. As a result they paid me about $82K of overtime backpay...Too bad is wax taxed to hell!!

I dont think you are doing anything wrong if your company allows it.

No overtime here, but my wage is more than enough so I can't complain.
