No Brake Boost without Launch Control?
I want to preface this by saying I know that non-M-Sport models are not designed for the purpose of being sporty, and that trying to squeeze out performance on them is a bit silly...
With that being said, I recently tried to launch the X1 30e from a standstill, and did everything I could think of to try to brake boost (brakes 100%, and have the RPM's be higher than idle, around 3-4k RPM where the system has max boost), since the car doesn't have launch control. However, it seems that the ECU might have locked down the car from being able to brake boost if you don't have Launch Control enabled on the car, and the revs stay locked at around 1k RPM. Is this something other people have noticed? The closest way I can theoretically get the best launch is by using the "BOOST" paddle, but it still seems like it does not let me build additional turbo pressure at a standstill. I'm creating this post to hopefully spread awareness about this, as I imagine that it's not just the X1 PHEV that has this characteristic, and that more likely it's all newer-gen iDrive9 systems as well that don't have Launch Control. |
