Kick to open Tailgate

Good evening.

Suddenly if I kick to open my tailgate is not working X1 U11.

Has anyone same issue?

Do you know where is the sensor?

It might be dirty - they sit centrally on the base of the car

This happened to my X3 and it was a low battery in the key. I had no other symptoms of the battery being low and didn't replace it until I started to get some major failures - then kick to open started working normally.

Check if this option is not disabled in the menu, due to some reset or bug. In any case, it works only if the car is unlocked, so if you use keyless, but it had not detected you, it won't work.

I can use the feature even if the car is unlocked as long as it detects the key is present.

I guess you've turned off auto lock/unlock, so in this scenario you're right - it doesn't need to be unlocked, just to for the key to be detected.

I turn it off when I valet the car, as walking away from the car with my phone will cause mayhem while they try to drive away with it and the key fob.
