That’s assuming of course you can afford to, chopping a car in for rattles is a first world problem isn’t it but it sounds like you’ve had issue after issue with rattles, my patience would have long since ran out.

it took two days to remove all door panels, dash, and front seats to install the aftermarket Morel speakers. (to replace the Harmon Kardon system that came with my '23 X1)

The hard part was not removing them. It was to reinstall everything back without squeaks and rattles. Fortunately, it's been a few months and I haven't heard anything different than before. (although every exposed body panels had sound deadening material glues on during the installation as well)

I finally drove a new x1 M35i today, and while it did not have the pano roof, I did take it over every bump, RR crossing and crappy road I could find. I know the car is brand new, but I could not hear anything out of the ordinary. I then went and pressed on every possible surface I could reach that might be susceptible to the "hot in the sun" crunching and I really didn't get anything there either. I must say the car looked and felt pretty well put together. Its also an absolute blast to drive. I did notice the hurky-jerky take off, and that was not great but I didn't notice it much in sport mode.

I then drove a new '24 x3, of which they seemingly had hundreds sitting there looking sad and lonely. I wouldn't get one, but wanted to check its relative size and behavior vs. the sprightly M35i. That car makes plenty of creaking noises for sure. And like my current 330, I could simply press on parts of the steering wheel to get the crunchies going. Besides that stuff, I think the x3 in the 30 engine is not terribly exciting, nor that much bigger than the x1 M35i. I peeked at the '25 X3 M50 (no '25 X3 30s) and it looked pretty wild but until I get all my kids off my payroll that kind of ride will have to wait.

I ordered the x1 M35i nearly fully loaded. I have until Saturday to change the color, but am so far really liking the space silver metallic, which looked killer in the sun. Hopefully I didn't make a mistake. Now I wait.

haven't been to Cleveland in several years. are the roads still bad? (especially Cleveland Heights and CWRU, or the interstate that goes to Erie, PA)

It’s a losing battle with the roads it seems. I’m on the west side so don’t get to Cleveland Hts much but I can only imagine it’s the same everywhere.

I have 2 annoying noises/creaks. Driver's side window where it meets the window seal at the top, gotta push up on in and give a lot of pressure to get it to stop for a bit before it comes back. The more annoying one is the driver's side plastic/molding portion under and left of the steering wheel. Creaks like crazy when going over non-smooth surfaces. Gotta really put a lot of pressure on it to stop it, looking to put some shim in there to get it to stop. Both are pretty annoying since they are pretty persistent.

My 2023 X1 xLine doesn't rattle either. At one time, I thought it might be developing a rattle on the rear passenger side. It drove me crazy until I figured out it was the way the seat belt was laying against the trim. I adjusted it and it's been fine ever since. For what it's worth I do not have the pano roof.

Not any more...

Had a persistent and consistent creaking that would go away when it rained, so determined it was a seal that had weather exposure. From the driver's seat it sounded like one of the passenger side doors.

Cleaned the seals, treated them with Gummipflege, and no better.

Tried the same with the pano roof - no better. Asked the dealer and they couldn't replicate it as it rained on the way there.

Tried the boot/hatch - no better.

Eventually had a chance to sit in the rear and push on everything and found the rear of the fixed part of the pano roof made the same noise. Soaked the external seals in Gummipflege and pushed it between the two seals with a plastic tool. Wiped off excess.

Now utterly silent.

Hey, 24 m35i here. Just took my car into service due to a terrible rattle coming from the back. It sounds like there’s a jackhammer in the trunk of my car. Honestly the car is awfully built and it seems like they took many shortcuts.

M35i Pano roof is LOUD over anything but the smoothest of surface. Door seal stuff was easy to take care of but the noise from the roof worries me.

I thought about seeing if I could get the panoramic roof deleted without it affecting the rest of the premium package, but the car was in production by that time. I don't even like sun/moon roofs, and keep the shade closed 100% of the time. Hell, I don't think I have even opened the shade on my current 330. Hopefully keeping the shade closed will help mitigate some of the noise, if any develops.

Were they able to diagnose and fix this issue? If so, what did it turn out to be?

Yes, car is under warranty, but they said they “reassembled the rear drive train”

Regarding the rattly center console, my iX1 is fine but my dad’s 2 series Active Tourer rattles like the video. I found if you half press the button that opens the center console (not enough to open it, just enough to put tension on the latch mechanism) the rattling goes away until you next open the console. Not ideal but will give you some peace at least!

My iX1 has been rattle free. The only annoying thing is when a passenger gets out of the car their seatbelt always rattles against the side until you move it back into position.

My M35i is getting an entire new Pano roof due to it making so much noise. Full assembly including glass. I have serious doubts it will fix anything. Moot point though because Now that I have transmission grinding, humming and clicking noises I'm pushing to get a buy back approved from BMW NA.

Listen to these wonderful transmission noises that start at the 6 second mark in this video. 7 months old and only 10k miles. Absolutely unacceptable.

This sounds terrible and somewhat lessens my excitement to receive my M35i that is coming. The rattling is one thing, but the transmission is something else altogether. Please advise on the outcome of all this.

When I test drove one, I got in that thing and pressed, knocked, pulled and shook every usual suspect rattling-prone area that I have learned about via the BMWs I've had. Of course, this particular M35i did not have the glass roof! UGH. I should have deleted that (assuming I could have) from my order. Anyway, my current 330 is probably the best BMW I've had in terms of extraneous noise, with fewer hard surfaces stuck up against each other which IMO is the source of much misery. The M35i I was in seemed even better than that, yet I am suspect of the very thin and hollow plastic-sided area between the footwells in the front. My 330 has a decidedly deep "thud" sound when whacked and M35i sounded like a snare drum. Yes, I use extremely scientific methods to determine areas of possible rattling/creaking/squeaking/stuff moving around.

I drive my wife crazy sometimes with my anti-rattling crusades, and I suppose its gets overboard. I will not say that I have pulled the car over and dispatched my young (at the time) kids to crawl around and see if they could find where a noise was coming from, but I will not say that I haven't.

One of my 3 series cars had a sort of hidden compartment to the left of the steering wheel that I didn't know about. After a service, some goofball tech put a screw in that compartment, and it rolled around making all sorts of noise when I was driving. It sounded like it was coming from the back of the car when in fact it was right in front of me. I still hear that story at gatherings when my wife is poking fun at me about my issues with mundane things.

Enough of this, clearly I've had too much coffee. My car is "at the port" and I am going to try and be excited. I guess I am going to be giving the Harman Kardon system a workout.

My M35i was towed in for that transmission/drivetrain noise at around 1:30pm on Friday Nov 15th. It's now Wednesday Nov 20th and still not a peep from the dealer as to what the issue is or what's causing it. The "it's in the shop again" counter is now up to 40 calendar days since I bought it roughly 8 months ago. So essentially, 5 days a month for every month I've owned it...its been in the shop. Utterly pathetic for a "luxury" brand.

🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋LAW comes to mind. 🧐🤔

At least PUSH HARD to get CASH BACK from BMW Corporate & or Service for all the inconvenience as a Goodwill gesture for horrible experience.
YOU DESERVE IT! 💵💸💰

I got back $800 when I had issues when my 2024 X1 28i had less than a 1000 miles & it was in the shop 3 times in March 2024.

Good luck.
