Exclamation B-pillar recall on 2025 X1

As of Oct 28, there is a new recall affecting 2025 X1s produced from Sept 17 to Oct 22. A delivery stop is in effect. Recall summary:

Quote:
The left-side and/or right-side B-Pillar may not have been produced by the supplier in accordance with specifications. In a crash, the B-Pillar may not have sufficient structural integrity which could increase the risk of injury.
I have a 2025 X1 on order that's stuck at the Oxnard, California VPC for over 2 weeks, likely due to this as it was produced within that time period. Anyone else affected, or notified about this stop sale by their dealerships?

Yea.. I was affected. They don't have a fix.

So, a note of caution here. Took mine in, since they claimed they have a remedy.

Word to the wise. They do not. Their 'remedy' is to determine if you are affected via an inspection. So they're holding it indefinitely until BMW NA gets back to them with a fix. Appreciate the safety concerns, but just know what you are getting into, and I wouldn't walk out of there without a loaner vehicle.

That lines up with my understanding as well, with the limited info available for this recall. My 2025 X1 on order has now been at the VPC for almost 2 months. I'm not sure whether my X1 is pending inspection, or is actually affected by the recall and needs repair. I haven't received any info from the dealership either.

Rdrapkin did the dealership perform the inspection on your car yet? I've searched online extensively for any info on this recall, but my efforts have been mostly futile. I found this German thread where some folks have reported the same recall on their vehicles. I'd really appreciate if you could post on this thread when you get an update for your X1.

Oh yea.. got an update. They want to do a buyback. So much fun! So I guess back to the whole waiting for a new one for months on end.

That really sucks, sorry to hear. Did the dealership provide any more info for your X1 - were both B-Pillars found to be "bad", or only one, etc? If I may ask, what was the production date of your X1? My X1 was produced on Sept 28 which is within the general production timeline (Sept 17 - Oct 22) for cars that could be affected by this recall, but that's all I know so far.

Took delivery on Oct 17, I’m trying to remember what the build week was, I think week of the 22nd, because I remember being surprised it was on a ship before the end of the month. It was certainly in that window.

No idea if it was both pillars - the result is the same. They need some tool they can’t get for over a month to fix it.
