Knee issues
my right knee is loosing cartilage around me knee seems to be long time of year as I was a runner and my service job had me on my feet doing leg work.
I stand alot at my three CNC machines at work and have a stool I use and a knee brace now to prevent movement. I have tried heat and ice routines and elevate it when possible but not sure how to slow it. I am active and I love to hike walk and cycle. It's impacting it and I have gained 7 pounds this year, First time I have been over 200 lbs on average for any length of time. Minus career change or surgery any other options |

Strengthening the quads and hamstrings (especially if there is a big imbalance between the two). Stretching the hamstrings could also help. A standing mat if you stand at one spot a lot.

Office Job is not for me I'd loose it. Used to have one and hated it. I made an appointment with VA as I use them for my health care since I cant get a Tricare Prime Doctor near me. It's next week and most likely I will hear the same things. The weight gain comes with age and loss of mobility. Maybe I can join the Y so I can do some swimming. |

Swimming is a good low impact activity. I swam 900yds today, first pool session of the season.
Include diet in the weight loss program, combined with exercise. Portion control is the main thing, food quality is important and secondary to weight loss. Target a "healthy range" BMI. |

Good ortho docs will tell you that you'll know when it's time to consider a new knee to make life bearable. Hope it gets better for you.

Weight loss & quad/ham balance are good approaches.
Depending on how much cartilage/joint space loss there is you might be a candidate for HA/rooster comb injections.

I also did enjoy running and my left knee got the worst of it. I ended up getting some sort of steroid shot for it as the doctors didn't "see anything wrong" with a simple x-ray. It's been fine since (about 8 months now). When I do leg day I use a CBD cream on my right knee and have no pain there either with the increased stress.

Swimming for stress-free exercise. Plenty stretching. Really watch what you eat, to keep the weight off... All the stuff that I don't do, basically. Good luck with it. Knee issues are 'fun'.

I am hoping the swimming helps as I went for a light hike last weekend and was at a 7.5 out of 10 in pain on a 6 mile hike. I have hiked this loop numerous times and I was an hour longer. |
