Hello there
I want to watch videos on youtube on my 2023 Bmw x1 but does anyone have any idea how to do it? I mean, can I do it with the help of any application or device? I bought such a device but I can't use it because it works with sim card. And in Turkey, devices with sim cards bought from abroad have to be taxed and registered, but this applies to phones and tablets. So I have no chance to register this device. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I mean, I thought I could use the device with a wifi connection, but I can't use the wifi because the device has a wireless carplay connection with the vehicle. What else can I do? Can you suggest me a solution?

If you have iDrive 8, then it’s not possible natively. You would have to buy a device. I bought one, but the video quality and lag was so bad, I had to return it

I posted about this months ago. YouTube was written in the video app description but was never actually available. BMW have since silently updated the text and removed the YouTube word.

I have Digital Premium and see no option to watch videos on YouTube. When I also check on BMW’s description of Digital Premium, there is also no mention of YouTube, only something more vague called “Videostreaming Platform”:

You need to download the YouTube app from the BMW Connected Drive store in the car first. I hope its not country-related as many other options.
Like Spotify and others, it should fall under "3rd Party Apps" in the above list, so its accurate, even if not exhaustive.

Just checked, this app must have JUST become available, there’s not even anything official by BMW about this yet. Good catch!

I can officially confirm that the YouTube app is available in Germany.

It's here in the UK, too, now.

It seems like quite a few other apps are available now too.


It even lets you watch YouTube as you're driving down the road.

It’s going to be a hard pass for me too, but there are times where could be useful - for example, if you’re on a ferry or waiting in the car to pick up a person from school/airport.

As mentioned above, it also runs in Audio only mode when driving, so you can listen to podcast like videos, while driving.

Possibily pitched more at the EV drivers than the ICE I'd have thought.
