2025 X1m35 improved updates?
I have a 2024 X1m35i, and it not only has the various iDrive 9.x bugs (such as the audio cutting out every few minutes for about a second), but it suffers from the terrible lag related to the AS/S and DCT. On my vehicle, in personal or efficient mode, the lag is more than a second.
I've now driven two 2025 X1m35 vehicles (at separate locations), and not only does the software seem improved, but the AS/S + dual clutch seems far better (although not as good as when in sport mode). I also noted that on the window sticker for my 2024 X1, the transmission is listed as "dual clutch Automatic" and on the window sticker for the MY2025 X1m35, the transmission is listed as "Steptronic" with Dual Clutch. Is this just marketing, or has BMW made any changes (including software) to improve the performance? There are some other small changes - the display is slightly different (fonts), and the warm up icon in blue is a bit different. I know there are a few improvements such as standard heated front seats, an included personal eSIM 5G, and updated iDrive (QuickSelect? - is that just shortcuts?). Does anyone have any other information about updates, especially related to the AS/S and DCT?

Mechanically they are all identical steptronic is an old BMW marketing same around autos. What you might not have is the latest firmware levels that some say has improved things.
Check if any update is available and post what the current firmware is. 11/2024 is the very latest at the moment. |

sorry I know this has nothing to w your DCT question, but it doesn't work anyhow... this is all I could find on here:
https://u11.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2130930 I've got two M35i's build dates of 11/7/24 and 11/11/24 and it just shows "incompatible" in the app. |

I've had my X1 M35i for a week now. Coming from a 330, I do not tolerate the AS/S, so while its unfortunate its not a simple buttom press, it is now a swipe and a press if not using Sport mode. I don't think that's a huge deal or the end of the world. In any event, I don't experience these issues with "lag" or whatever. I am used to a turbo 4, so don't expect any monstrous, immediate acceleration. Even so, this thing still moves, and moves pretty well in sport mode.
EDIT: to say, I am not discounting anyone's experience otherwise. |

Considering the lag is akin to the "bog" one might experience in a manual transmission when having not given the car enough gas off the line in 1st gear... then the only way to "give it more gas" is by increasing the idle RPM. Kick the transmission into S, as seen on the photo. While at a stop, you'll notice the idle RPM increase by nearly double to 1400rpm. I experience zero lag or bog from this simple change. Now granted I also have AS/S deleted which helps significantly as well. |

I have a 2025 m35, and I have often wondered if there was some difference somewhere. My car definitely doesn’t have the same level of lag that others have previously mentioned. Is it software, hardware, or am I imagining it? I can’t say for certain, but I’d be surprised if something hasn’t changed and your experience reinforces that in me.
As for start/stop, I always have it off so can’t comment on that. |

That's wild to me, but you may be on to something then with pre-MY2025. Having deleted AS/S, I hardly notice the bog. But when I want to eliminate it completely, I shift the tranny into S and it's 100% gone every single time.

I had the same issues with music stopping for a few seconds, since the day I got the car. I took the car multiple times and finally talked to the manager and they talked to BMW corporate and after 6 visits to the service center they finally figured it out and it was some electrical cable that was connected to the Bluetooth. And it works fine now!

ASS does not reactivate when Sport is selected and then deselected at a stop light. It stays off until the car stops again and then the ASS is reactivated and shuts off the engine.

Not true with my M35i. Not sure with Efficient Mode (don't use it) but with Personal Mode selecting Sport with the transmission selector ASS turns off.
Returning the gear selector to Drive the ASS stays off and the engine continues to run. |

That's what I'm saying. Pull gear selector to S(port) not Sport Mode. ASS allows engine to start.
You can accelerate with gear selector in S(port) or you can select D. ASS will not shut off engine so you can choose to accelerate using D or S. |

Having had a F40 M135 before this, I actually think the gearbox is better on the X1. |
