Per John Muir's book, it should be 0.016".

Interesting how toolboxes these days don't have feeler gauges, timing lights, or dwell meters.....

I erroneously thought that Briggs and Sratton used points until just a few years ago. It turns out they moved to electonic ignition back in the '80s. That timeframe still doesn't qualify for anything but the edge of the lawn, but it still counts. Sorry for the mistake.

I used to set timing by ear when I didn't have access to a timing light. I'll never know how far off I was or how much extra gasoline I was using. I would never recommend that approach to anyone.

I'd make up fliers and put them on the cars in the church parking lot offering to change oil or give a tune up while they were in church. It was huge it with parishioners. And the edge of the lawn is still on the lawn.
