Finally took delivery yesterday.
Great looking car and great bang for your buck.

After a shocking buying experience & an appalling pre-delivery receiving a under-trimmed butchered vehicle from WestCoast BMW, I have since really tried to enjoy the car.

7 months in and 5,600km on clock made decision to cut my losses with both the brand & EV. Went out to wholesalers in Perth to offload the unwanted and unwanted it certainly was. I just got a repeat of "thanks but no thanks". We çant buy EV's.

Purchased a new vehicle over East and conditions were they must take the iX1 or no deal, regardless on how much it cost me. (which I now put down to a huge stupid mistake .............BMW = Bloody Money Wasted).

It should be popping up on Used car sales websites in Sydney soon. Hope it goes to a happier owner.

Hopefully an Australian buyer might find the following experience/info of some value:

Back in late January 24 I traded my 2018 X3 3.0d on a floor stock X1 2.0 Xline. Really liked it, although struggled to adjust to not having the central controller knob. In late June it was written off when rear-ended.
The insurers eventually paid me out when they were unable to source an identical vehicle. I had already ordered a replacement (M) because of the expected supply and order times. I was insured for market value because of the promise of an identical replacement vehicle within 2 years of purchase. But, when the insurer was unable to source a replacement (after only 2 days), they attempted to settle IAW the policy, ie, Market Value - some $9k below purchase cost after only 5 months. After many conversations, I was eventually able to achieve replacement cost.

What I’ve discovered during the process:
- don’t accept the insurer’s initial offer if it’s below replacement value - regardless of the policy - without a fight.
- I ordered the replacement car in mid-July and the dealer managed to get me a September build slot
- I was able to get the VIN from my dealer shortly after it was built - although according to the “Track My BMW” app, the car sat in the paint shop for 3+ weeks - when suddenly its status changed to “shipped”. Attempting to use the app once I had a VIN was far from ideal.
- I had read on one of the forums that BMW only used Wallenius for Oz shipments and not Hoegh. A VIN is of no use for tracking Wallenius.
- When in frustration I tried Hoegh using the VIN, up popped my vehicle immediately. It was already on a ship, but unfortunately, was being taken on a tour of several northern European ports before heading south.
- it is now scheduled to arrive in Melbourne around the 9th Dec, but it would seem doubtful I’ll take delivery until the new year.
Despite the drama of the accident, the insurance negotiations and the family being down to the one car, I’m now hopefully getting the car I perhaps should have ordered in the first instance - assuming it too wasn’t written off in a not at fault accident.

After tracking my new car half-way around the world, the ship docked in Melbourne on the 21st Dec. Instead of the hoped for delivery in December, my revised expectation then was perhaps for early January. What I was totally unaware of was the stevedore strike action which, although now supposedly lifted, has caused considerable chaos for the movement of imported vehicles into many Australian ports, including Melbourne. I now have no idea as to when the vehicle might be delivered. Very disappointing, especially since my insurance company withdrew the hire vehicle back in late July, as soon as my claim was finalised. At least we have a second vehicle, albeit electric.

Zuzu Only a few more months to wait for my storm bay x1 (m sport package) - hoping it looks as fantastic as yours! But didn’t really think about window tint at the time until aftercare just contacted me. Is yours factory standard or did you get tinting done? As I understand it I think privacy glass on rear and boot is the factory standard in Aus but I’m not sure!

Christmas came and went and although the ship carrying my X1 was unloaded about 3 days before Christmas 2024, I heard nothing until the 24th of Jan when the Dealer SM rang to advise that my vehicle was one of those assembled in Germany over 4-5 weeks in Sep/Oct last year and now subject to a recall to Germany because of a faulty B pillar. In short, I was back to square one, having spent 7 months waiting delivery of my replacement X1 after my 6-month-old U11 X1 was written off in June. To the dealer's credit, they bent over backwards to accommodate me and as a result, I'll be taking delivery of a new X3 (I went from an X3 to the X1 12 months ago). Disappointing, but a satisfactory outcome which will see me moving back to the X3 site.

Hey mate.. to be honest I am not sure as it was a while ago..
Cant even check for you, as I have since sold the car last month.
