Lightbulb 2016 BMW 340i still worth it in 2025?

I'm looking around for a b58 and seen a 2016 340 xdrive with 23k miles for 30k. Do you guys think it's worth the price, due to the age of the car and it being the first year of the b58.

$30k for a 2016 (basically 10 year old BMW even with low miles) seems pretty steep. Nothing special about a 340. Should be closer to the low 20’s mark.

Heck, for under $40k and for a bit more you could likely be in a newer M340i, or even an F80.

That seems like a premium price to pay. Trade in on that car would likely be $15-18k you would lose your ass turning around and trying to trade that car in.

Nothing wrong with that model year B58, so it’s a good engine regardless. Low miles obviously nice….just if you can get it at the right price.

Check the telematics. If they are 3G, they will no longer be functional, unless there is a compatible 4G adapter for it.

A 2016 is worth buying. Especially with 23k miles. Not for $30k. $25k, maybe up to $27k. Use this to check the value. Go all the way to the end and look at the Private Party value. https://www.edmunds.com/appraisal/

A little high but not outlandish, especially if it has good options/color combo etc.

The 3G technology referenced in Post #3 Above is an excellent point.

My 2015 535i is a wonderful ride when it comes to technology & comfort; however, the 3G technology it was built for now being outdated/unusable is a bit of a disappointment. Not a huge dealbreaker for ME, but also not something not worth my $$$ to upgrade when Siri handles my occasional needs.

Agree @ 16' 340 xdrive price being closer to the $25k+ range. Even with such low miles. I'd keep an eye on it and see if the owner is willing to come down on price when it doesn't sell right away.

A quick KBB check shows private sale value @ $24k-$27k (very good condition). So, yeah, "fair" or "good" price going to depend a bit on options but not a huge amount.

So there’s 2 options I found a 2017 340 with damn near every package like mppsk, track,
M sport, tech.. and a another 2017 wit I think just winter package. The one with all the packages priced at 31k with 53k miles and they other priced at 25k with 55k
Miles. Is it worth paying extra 6k for all packages? The one with all packages was imported by a dealer from
Canada too.

Personally I'd just pony-up & get a brand new M240 xdrive.

Probably not that much more. Some more, yes, but less.

Off the top I'd be thinking high $20k for the 1st car and mid 20k for the second car.

You could also go through the options, with a VIN decoder, and see what they do and if you care about them.

It could be worth it due to the low mileage, but keep in mind it’s the first year of the B58, which might have early production issues. Compare prices with similar models and get a thorough inspection to be sure

Even with all the packages, which is very desirable, $31k is over priced by between $2k - $4k. $25k is a pretty good price, but not for something with no options. Do you have links to each of them you can post?
