Parked M5 comp hit(this one hurts)

Well happy Sunday everyone! The wife, kids and I went to the mall today and came back to find my ‘21 m5 comp front end smashed. To say I was shocked was an understatement. I guess I should feel super fortunate as the guy left a note with his contact and apologized.

I already opened the claim with Allstate earlier and have to wait for the next business day to chat with the adjuster.

This is my first bmw but not first time needing to get something fixed on a car.

99.99% certain the full front will need to be replaced and I also had PPF. The guy already admitted and knew he is at fault.

I will only be going through bmw to get it fixed but anything I should be on the lookout for? I’m also worried about this going on the carfax, anything I can do about that or also get further compensation because of diminished value?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

You are very lucky that there are still decent people in the world that leave notes....
That's pretty rare nowadays, and a prime reason lots of people drive a POS for their daily needs.

Yup, leave the M5 in the garage when you go to public parking.

My heart goes out to you. Looks like a light hit and not very bad but agree, would need a bumper replacement I guess.
Also kudos to the guy who left the note. Such a rarity these days.

That is at least 10K in repairs, despite looking like it could have been worse.

Glad you got a note had also have good insurance. I would take it to a BMW certified repair shop and also demand OEM parts where possible.

Only rich people can drive $100K+ cars to parking garages, and you know who cares about rich people? Nobody.

It sucks that we live in that world, but anyone that thinks we don't is just kidding themselves.

Sorry to hear you're a statistic.

The best advice I ever gave my dad, but he never took.

Drive a beater when going shopping or on a date.

He's lost over 7 figures, I don't know how many times, for those exact reasons.

You know I got out of the car and did a double look back and seriously questioned my parking on the corner being open like that and I went against my own intuition😭

Thanks dude. Definitely could’ve been worse and yes end of day it’s just a car. I’ve been putting work into her lately cosmetically so that’s why it’s just a punch to the gut seeing anything happen. They hopefully better replace the bumper and lip🙏🏻

It looks like the front headlight was spared but most likely the bumper will need to be replaced. Make sure that your insurance covers the cost of replacing the PPF. As mentioned already, I would take your car to a dealer where they only use OEM parts.

Unless you have the ppf added to your policy, it won't be covered by your insurance.

That's at least a bumper replacement and paint job. Hopefully that fender lines up. Also keep fingers crossed that there is no suspension damage. Being its a MY21, will most likely need to have blending done to hood and fenders (for proper color match). That will be a costly ppf redo.

Too bad. Sorry that happened to you.
Our friends backed into our new BMW in their driveway.
All you can say is "that's what we get for using them".

Yeah fortunately going through the guys policy with his insurance since it’s his fault.

I have already been in contact with the Allstate adjuster and told them im only taking it to bmw body shop however they were mentioning about salvaged parts or 3rd party parts and I strongly reaffirmed I want only OEM ughhhh

It wasn’t my fault and going through the guys insurance policy. I chatted with the adjuster and they stated to get a quote from the body shop for the full bumper ppf. We’ll see.

Yeah we’ll see once the shop gets hands on it and opens it up see if there is any internal damage which I’m hoping not!🙏🏻

I hope they cover it. I would make it clear you want new OEM BMW parts only (you and the body shop may have to put pressure on All State).

Yup you’re exactly correct as I got the vibe from the adjuster that’s what I am going to need to do. At this point I am waiting to hear back from Allstate confirming the other party liable and then I can take my car to the shop.

I don't have a special endorsement for it on my policy and Progressive replaced my PPF when I had a claim.
