Bought a $175 dollar dress shirt for my sisters wedding tomorrow - girlfriend washed it and then threw it in the dryer now it's too small to wear.

things happen, if i cared about a shirt or something i'd make sure no one has access to it, regardless what the method is: announce no one can touch, put the shirt away, electrify your closet, put a tiger in the closet to kill ne1 who opens it, etc...

Yep, too much hassle, what with ironing and all.

Not just the hassle... the shirt loses it's shape and the collar falls apart a lot faster.

Actually, unless you specify dry clean, most cleaners just throw it in warm wash and machine dry anyway.

I have a lot of dress shirts, and pants, so I found a good dry cleaner. A while back I bought some shirts with a buddy of mine, and he washed his at home and I only used the dry cleaner, and his shirts looked like shit compared to mine. That's how I learned.

It's not the washing that shrunk your shirt, it's the drying. You have to hang dry dress shirts.
I launder, hang dry, and iron all my shirts, and they stay in great condition. For those of you who dry clean your shirts....look up the relationship between dry-cleaning and cancer. Those solvents are carcinogenic. BTW for the OP, if you bought your shirt at a high-end store, many will take the shirt back if you complain about it shrinking with a single regular wash. It usually has to be a pretty high-end store though. |

It is only a shirt though.
What I cannot stand is when most of my shirts have to have buttons replaced because of the cleaners. Finally found a cleaner that seems pretty good with the buttons.
