What's interesting is that Audi is promoting the premise that consumers are indeed concerned about stereotypes, and will use that information in determining their own purchase choices.

There is a large section of consumers who cannot (due to lack of information and/or lack of interest) choose a vehicle purchase based solely on driving performance/specifications in respect to their individual needs (or any commodity for that matter.) If you're not a pistonhead who has driven and/or owned many cars, it's a lot of work to wade through all the choices. So, you base it on generalities.

Anyway, this kind of stereotyping and aligning certain individuals with certain products has been around for a very long time and is effective. Just look at the current political scene. Very little is based on substance. It's 90% appearance and stereotyping. Most people don't have the attention span to care about the specifications of anything.

You see a lo tof it even on this board, where you'd expect better.. A model or make makes the car for a surprising # of people. I'm probably guilty of it myself, at times.

Haha, I love that clip, JP - I had to email it to my wife, who tends to agree with Clarkson and thought I should keep my Audi instead of getting my 335i.

As for the "Beckers" clips, I laugh at them. "I never thought the Ultimate Driving Machine would be ... purple."

Audi should spend more time making their car drive better and price better rather than spending all this time on this show which u won't notice unless u are a petrolhead.

Worked fine for me... was a bit choppy for the first 5-10 seconds till it finished buffering. Let it load and play through once, then try watching it maybe?

I just saw it on youtube. Made me lol.

I think the girls are supposed to represent Lexus because they don't have souls or whatever. That's just my take.

The douchebag is in the M3.

And the old fart is in the S-Class.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. And spot on.

I have a feeling that Audi is quickly becoming what BMW was in the days of the E36.

I might have to move my business their next time around (or to a Prius).
