just go buy a new one..that happened to me the day before halo 3 came out and i wasn't going to wait so i just bought a new one right after the got those lights

I just did this for the 2nd time, the longest part is the shipping of the xbox to them and back. I believe mine was only with them for two days. Pretty fast, but of course when I got mine back and turned it on the fans are whirling super loud and making horrible noises so I have to send it back again :/ Good luck

I bought it when they first came out and sold it just recently. . .probably gonna go the wii route.

i bought a refurbished one just so i could play. however, since i bought a new one ive forgotten to send in my old one

Tis the season - I got my RROD on Thursday night as I was playing Gears2 with my brother who was in town for the holiday. I *almost* feel lucky as I have a launch system and this was my first one. Too bad I was out of the extended 3 year warranty by about 2 months.

So the wife agreed my early xmas present would be a brand new Elite system.

Both Walmart and Fry's Electronics do not bother to scan the serial bars on returns, so you can go buy a new one, swap the consoles and take the defective back for a full return credit. Just make sure you pay cash so you get cash refund, if you pay by credit card it'll take a few days for the funds to be put back to your account. I've never done this personally, but my buddy has used this method to and swapped his XBOX 360 twice already. It's morally wrong, but anytime you get to stick it to the man (Microsoft) you take advantage of it.

I did the same thing but with walmart. you only have to buy the 199.99$ arcade version as you do not send in your HDD. The day my xbox came in the mail I returned the one I bought from walmart for full retail, even though there was a price drop
