credit card processing websites
Just wondering if there are any business owners here that use any websites to process credit card payments?
anyone have any experiences with www.psigate.com? or www.elavon.com? Looking to see who has the best rates and service.

I haven't gotten around to setup CC processing yet, but it was looking like Quickbooks had a pretty good deal.
The one thing that all places do though is have different rates based on how you enter the card information. The best rate is given for "card present - swiped." So if you can get a card swiper for your computer, that will give you the best rates. The worst rates are "card not present - no additional security", meaning you didn't get the CV2 code, etc. The difference between the best and worst rates can be 1.0 to 1.5 points. Costco also offers a credit card processing partnership that looks to have really good rates. http://www.elavon.com/acquiring/costco-canada/ Looks like the service is provided by Elavon.....

Look for a bank that does first party processing. They will have the best rates for you. That's what the third party people are doing - they go to a first party bank, set themselves up, then go out and market it to you. Most large banks can do first party processing. Check with the bank where you have your business accounts. I haven't gone that route yet, but I may in the near future.
