laptop question
Hey, I just got a new hp notebook and was going to upgrade the ram on it. I only bought it with 512 because I've found it cheaper to upgrade by yourself. I was wondering whether their are compatibility issues when you have one 256mb ram piece next to a 1024mb ram piece together making 1280mb ram. thanks

As BWME90 said, try to match the size. If you can, ditch the 512MB; you can't do squat with 512MB these days it seems even though BG said that 640KB is enough memory for anyone. Get two 1024MB or two 2048MB in the two slots.
Make certain they are both of the same manufacturer, the same speed and the same type. Ensure they are supposed to work with your laptop.

well depends what the configuration was at first, 1x512 or 2x256. you can do it either way for the upgrade, 1x1024 or just get another 512, if you already have 512
