My new purchase

After a lot of thinking and research I decided it doesn't make sense for me to have two cars. So today I bought one car to replace my other two (both are for sale now, please pm me if interested.)

I wanted something that looked good, was foreign, handled well, and was pretty fast for the street since I like to go around corners faster than some people feel is safe. But I don't street race.

This car fit the bill perfectly. It's a brand new 2009. I think it's faster than my old Porsche (it's also foreign made) which is really just too old now. At least the engine looks a lot bigger when I looked at it. The dealer said it was, too.

The inside is about the same size as my Benz, but, well, maybe a bit smaller. But there's no leather so it will last a lot longer. That's also what the dealer said.

Consumer Report really rates it high. A lot higher than my current cars. So that was a real plus. And everything will now cost me less: tires, oil changes, etc.. What a relief!

I took it for a long drive in the canyons and it drove smooth and got good gas mileage. I'm happy!!

Congrats. My biggest reservation would be the FWD layout. Had you looked at the infiniti Gs?

Hmm, interesting choice. Definitely the more driver-oriented one of the midsize family car bunch. I like how the new ones look.

I found the throttle response too touch at low speeds though.

Well, the dealer told me that the FWD was better in all respects. Especially compared to my Porsche which he said also had the engine in the back, which is not as good as the Altima which has the engine in the front.

This 3.5 engine is a beast. I can go really fast around the corners now. I'll bring it up to the Rock Store on Mulholland this weekend if anybody is interested.

I like the interior. The plastic bits are very well placed.

I made a good decision, imho. And I'm getting almost 22 mpg (still not broken in of course.)

Thumbs up

In other news, I sold my Ford Focus and bought this:

I felt I needed something with a bit more speed, and handling, and thought this would be the logical step up.
