Flash help needed

Just bought a Nikon Speedlight SB 900 to go with my D90. Had a play yesterday in the garden with the kids running around. Although it was a sunny day I used it for fill flash and was pleased with the results.

I would however like to be more knowledgeable on correct and creative use of this flash. Looking for help, tips or directions to read up on this subject.

just keep it off the camera when you use it.

use the wireless mode, it'll give you more room to play.
