hi all some information required if any one can help !!!!!
i have an e46 320d m-tec sport the problem i am having is every now and then my car wont start, when you turn the key it sounds like it wants to start but just not firing, i have taken my car to a local garage who said to me that it could be my injectors on the way out (ouch) how ever the other day i noticed that when it didn't start i didnt hear the fuel pump whine that i normally hear just b4 i actually start the car, could this be the fault a faulty fuel pump ??? but then i was told from a friend that a small black box (electrical) which controlls the fuel pump could be the reason for the non starting so now im confused as to what the problem is, has any one else had a similar problem that could shed some light on this for me (i do not want to get ripped off by the stealers for a pump or injectors if it could be this black box) which i am told is a much much cheaper fix to my problem

ps: i have also noticed that just recently i have lost around 10 mpg where i was averaging around 50 - 52 mpg i am now only averaging around 40 - 42mpg is this part of that fault ??????
