I didn't expect a single turbo 3.0 diesel with quattro and weighing a hack of a lot more to beat a 330i.

Take a 330d vs a A5 3.2 FSI, it will be the same, the single turbo diesel will be faster. What makes the diesel win is the high amount of torque. And put a 330d vs a A5 3.0 TDI, the BMW wins.

I totally disagree with that opinion, the VAG 3.0TDI is a much better performer than the 3.0d from BMW.

Here's a 530d vs an A6 Allroad 3.0TDI. I don't see the lighter BMW accelerating any quicker, even though it has the same amount of power and torque, and only rwd.

is it just me or is the BMW slightly quicker??

anyway i think AUDI makes fast car and would not be surprised if the A5 3.0TDI won against the 330i by "that much"

Looks quicker to me too? The new 3 litre bmw diesel is awesome!
