Canadian GP Back in 2010!!

http://www.worldcarfans.com/10908042...10--ecclestone

Quote:
Canada is set to return to the formula one calendar next year, Bernie Ecclestone has promised.

"I promise we will be in Montreal in 2010," the F1 chief executive told Switzerland's Motorsport Aktuell.

The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve event was omitted from this year's schedule after Ecclestone could not agree financial terms with race organisers.

But he has been under intense pressure to reinstate the race as soon as possible, especially as the crucial North American market is now completely missing from the calendar.

"Everyone in formula one loves the Canadian grand prix," Ecclestone admitted.

He had bad news, however, for those hoping the United States might quickly return to the schedule. "Forget Indianapolis. We're not going back there," said the 78-year-old Briton.

Ecclestone also suggested that Great Britain's annual date is not under threat, explaining that if Donington can deliver a formula one race "then we will be there".

"If not, then we will be staying in Silverstone," he added.

Ecclestone also said he hopes Korea and India are the next countries to host grands prix.
YESS!!! Now I won't have to save up a fortune just to watch a race!

It's great to see that you will all come over to watch and be part of the crazyness. That week is always so fun in Montreal.

Now as the saying goes... do not sell the bear' skin before killing it.

I think Bernie is using media to force the local governments to pony up some $$$ and make sure the event is officially on. The way we see it... it will be expensive, but it still will be worth it.

anyways it is great news!

North Korea is going to invade the day of an F1 race in South Korea. Kim is going to take all the F1 drivers prisoner and turn it all into his personal racing circus

even that sounds more fun and exciting than all the politics going on...and the teams backing out...

I think its premature to conclude the date...
like this season....the Chinese GP at Shanghai was in April, which they just hosted the 2008 race in last November....

FOM moved that race from the second to last race to the first three....god knows what they do for 2010...

Two, it's a terrible venue for the "show" as Bernie would call it...Indy is about the Indy 500, not F1. Unfortunately there have not been great many of new tracks in the US that could host F1 and be up to snuff for Bernie and gals in the Paddock. My guess is, they'll have it in a major city in the US and a street circuit...to be continued...at least it's coming back to North America...
