Let the rip-offs begin
Check out both cars from the (hoffmeister kinked) C pillars forward. Separated at birth? I think not.

i think it has a completely different shape...although same body style, the accord coupe looks like its getting a lot of cues from the civic..especially that rear...lets just hope that they put that new turbo engine in that accord so we all can pick one up as a daily beater..should be fun to toss around

I see quite a lot of similarities, it's got 4 wheels, 2 doors,2 tail lights. and the list goes on!

Come on! You don't see the character line on the left side and the chunky up-sloping rocker panel? They are identical! Those are hallmarks of the 3 series design!

nah that's not bad. i've seen worse copy cats. remember bmw's old commercials "stop dreaming. start driving."
some other company, forget who it was, made a commercial like a year after bmw's was realeased, that said "stop commuting. start driving." pretty fuckin stupid if you ask me. |

I can see similarities, but the important thing is that BMW translated the concept into a rolling vehicle. I haven't seen any Hondas resembling the drawing out on the road...

At that angle, one gets a tunnel vision perspective into the entire shape of the vehicle. The artist obviously gave a fish-eyed, wide-angle camera lens view of the two photos.
I agree that there are similarities in comparing the two drawings, but I would venture to guess that the entire concept vehicles compared side-by-side in vivo would look less similar than these perspectives would lead you to believe. |

Even if they copied the BMW styling exactly, the Accord would be stuck with a giant front overhand due to FWD. They won't ever get eye-pleasing proportions unless they build RWD cars (see Infiniti and Lexus, and their own S2000 for that matter).

there's certainly similarities.
if honda builds a coupe that looks like that, they'll have a pretty a nice looking car. but my prediction is the production version won't look as good.
