CA drivers license loss/renewal question

hey guys recently i lost my drivers license misplaced it somewhere.. but it expires in november..

am i suppose to file for a loss and get a new one or is there a way i can renew it right now?

call up DMV and ask the same question to them? I think you "should" be able to renew it right now unless it's one of those renewal that you have to go in and retake the written exam again. My dad had to retake the written exam last time he renewed his license (no points, no record).
