Unhappy Coughing up trace amounts of blood - cause for concern?

I was sick with a cold/mild fever about two weeks ago. My coughing has been violent, and only just started dying down a little less than a week ago. I still cough, and I still get an occassional violent burst of coughing.

Today I've found myself coughing up trace amounts of blood, and I can taste the saltiness in the back of my throat. I'm somewhat concerned simply because a cough should not last for two weeks. So, should I be concerned? Could the blood simply be due to continuous violent coughing? If the amount of blood worsens I will definitely seek professional help, but I think this might not be serious. I don't feel sick, I just have some pleghm that causes me to cough. I'm not light headed and I'm completely capable of working out at 100%.

Go see a doctor... I coughed so hard last year that I actually fractured a rib. Not fun at all.... and I definitely feel you pain. Just some random case of bronchitis was my diagnosis, but who knows what you've got happening.

Any time blood is coming out of your dick/ass/mouth and you don't know why, you should go to see a doctor. If I were you I'd go to an urgent care/ER clinic and save a buck or two rather than just going guns blazin' into the ER.

Hmm...I actually don't think there's anything to be worried about. No more blood, like at all. I just made this thread right after I coughed a little blood up, but it could have been a broken blood vessel due to how hard I was coughing.

I think I really just need a good night's rest, which is something my body never gets.

I am not a doctor but I think it is just nodules (sp) from your lungs. They are tired of you beating on them. No need to panic unless it gets thick.

Ummmm, yeah, see a physician. Those are classic signs of TB. You should never be coughing up blood, mucus only. Not only that, TB is extremely contagious and you should make sure you are not positive for it and possibly infecting others. The test is quick, painless and cheap. Get tested.

All of those symptoms sound like H1N1. Probably might wanna check up on that.

I speculate this cause my friend got H1N1 and she has a violent cough and is coughing up trace amounts of blood as you describe. I'd look into it.

If you smoke cigarettes (not being the sole reason) that could contribute to the problem, too.

Guys, it was a one time thing. I only coughed up a small amount, and it hasn't happened since the thread's creation. I just had a small cough spasm and it probably ruptured a small vessel. I'm not even coughing anymore.

I do, and it probably did. Not smart on my part obviously.
