Just a real bad guess at what pricing might look like
So I was bored at work and went on to BMW NA's website and fooled around a bit.
A base M3 coupe MSRP's at 58400, so I built a 335i coupe (minus automatic, and metallic color) with packages and accessories until I brought it to 50 dollars over a base M3. I then applied applied the same packages to a base 135i coupe and came up with....$47099. Probably not a good method, but sure would be a tempting its around my predicted price. Your thoughts?

So pices in Germany:
40.100 €__________BMW 135i (E82) 46.150 €__________BMW 335i (E92) 68.350 €__________BMW M3 (E92) M3 costs 22.200 € more than 335i Add 20.000 € to price of 135i and M1 will cost 60.100 €. So no way it will cost that much. I think ad ~10.000 €. 49.000 € to 52.000 € for BMW M1 (E82) in Germany. |

I configured an 135i with all extras I wanted and came up with a European Price of 58.000,-€. So I think, the M1 with the same options will be arround 65.000€ - 70.000€

I would add another 10K to my guess price of an M1 with all the options I want, but this is a rough guess at what a bone stock M1 might be, given any indicator from pricing out a 335i to match a bone stock M3, and then applying same packages and options to a 135i.

Didn't Scott say it would be approx $10k more than the 135i?

He said 10K more Euros, not Dollars....
So, we are left to speculate how it will arrive here, since there is never a straight conversion....

Some other folks have used the M price premium in the 3,5, and 6 series to get a "baseline" so to speak, of what we could expect the 1M to command price-wise....
I think that is a great method...it has been posted a few times with actual numbers.....

Good news for us is the Euro is down: 1.2 US$ = 1 Euro

That's "cheap", I'm expecting a price between 60 and 70k here. Close to 70k € I think if not more. E92 M3 is over 112k € here

Also, you could just add the raw premium for the M3 vs. 335, which gives you a base price of about $52 for the 1M - which is possible. If the 1M has the M3 carbon fiber roof, aero mirrors, brand new engine (not tuned N54) it will have a starting price around $52K, which will be very surprising to some people on this forum that are guessing 45K or 46K. That is dreaming - the e46 m3 was more expensive than that And if the 1M is small production as BMW suggests, the dealer premiums for this car will push it closer to the price of the M3 causing people to complain about the price even more. I am not saying the 1M would not be worth it at that price, just less of a bargain as many people are making it out to be. Last edited by antzcrashing; 07-19-2010 at 04:23 PM.. |

Not mine - you'll have to pry it from my dead hands in 40-50 years.
