I believe it is. I should go and pose with my car at the zoo, and get some wife angled shots, with some photo shop techniques, that will do it no??? |

I have always wanted to ask the same questions...
I have shot a few cars professionally and provided the community with decent photographs and yet we still lost them all. My next prospective COTM member is awei, his car is honestly more than enough already for "exclusive". From cosmetics to performance and even the bbk... Good luck in the future bro

Maybe it's because of that God awful license plate?
...But seriously, sweet looking ride, or whip or whatever the kids are calling cars nowadays |

Well, then who is? I found the thread from Mark who was (or is) involved in the selection process and he is listed as a moderator. Has this changed or is Mark an owner or what the hell is going on... Just to repost it again:

So Mark and Jason choose the COTM based on the votes and some discretion, correct?

Your car is pretty nice but I'll dare to say it, it's pretty tacky/presumptuous to self-nominate yourself.

Maybe they get notified when someone clicks Recommend this car as car of the month. It's still attention seeking and presumptuous IMO to say, hey, I'm better. There's something to be said about some humility.

Yeah I don't think there is any voting at all for COTM. You can nominate to bring attention to a thread. The owners make the final decision.
Here is a checklist of my observations of the owners' subjective tastes: Member Check:
That aside, I noticed LMs and LM-Rs will never get old. Most of the COTM winners boil down to:
Some sections will be weighted differently. When the e92 M3 first came out, I'd imagine the photography and presentation probably held a higher factor since mods weren't as practical at such an early stage. OP's car probably fell under the "too familiar category." OP's car probably would have been COTM in 2009. Last edited by XiaoDeeDeee; 06-07-2010 at 05:55 PM.. |

Also, the title of COTM is a mere illusion, a feature. The owners likely initially designed it to showcase the community and the advancements of the related platform (e90/e92/M3) to attract more member registrations. This feature was made more and more fleshed out and presumably some members are now actually taking this illusory title seriously.
As a feature, therefore, COTM is not an actual "title." Everyone in this thread now knows COTM is purely the subjective tastes of the owners. There is no objective standard here. At best a COTM hopeful can attempt to mod a vehicle based on the owners' subjective tastes but that would be pretty pathetic. If OP didn't "win"--or better put: if the OP's vehicle was not chosen to be featured for a particular month, the owners simply liked another car better. That's it. |

to be honest, i feel as if COTM is more like TOTM (thread of the month). The one that has the most impressive pictures, not just shows the mods. maybe thats why?
but nice car i love it |

Funny, I just found this thread because today my dad and I were talking about how you become COTM. My buddys 335 that I helped mod is COTM on e90post this month. Thats what brought up the conversation, so I looked to see how it all works.
Anyway, I mod for myself but would def like to be COTM some time. Maybe after I remake my splitter and take some new pics Ill have a chance. D |
