A couple others, which may or may not be new for September production are "8TL Daytime driving lights front and rear active", and "4NE Blow-by heater."

But likely retrofittable since the same CIC is used. Connectors/wiring (as well as coding) will be a different story.

This can be very misleading. This is worldwide units shipped, NOT units in use. Lots of Asian users (Japan, Korea) replace phones multiple times per year. Many people hold their iPhones for the full 2 years. Then layer on top of that the fact that a very large portion of the RIM units are employer-supplied and there is little incentive to improve media integration. Then layer on top of that the fraction of iPhones, as compared to others, that are purchased PERSONALLY by affluent, educated individuals, and Apples 25% Market share in the U.S., and the fact that Apple simply has not yet gone after many of the world markets aggressively, and it becomes very obvious that Apple is the true leader.
I have used every OS- bought phones in Europe you cannot get here. Google is coming on strong, especially with the tech-savvy crowd (HIGH correlation with posters here, modest with BMW owners), but they have a long row to hoe to get up along side Apple. If processing power and features are akin to horsepower and features, and the user interface is akin to actual real-world driving experience, BMW = Apple Android = Nissan IMHO |

Just wanted to revisit this since Mini's version has been in their cars since the end of last year.
One thing I saw on Mini Connected I haven't seen on BMW Connected yet is video output. Yes, you can play iPod videos and movies right onto the navi screen. I'm hoping the BMW Connected does the same thing since BMW has the advantage of a 2" larger screen that can do split screen, where Mini's can not. The thought of navi on one side and a movie on the other is very intriguing indeed. |
